Three Methods For Hacking A Padlock (Your Own) Without A Spare Key In An Emergency
Ever wonder how to open a padlock if you've misplaced the key? Well, worry no further; a video sweeping the Internet shows a novice (that's you) how to hack a lock using items that are found around the house.
Disclaimer: This video is for entertainment purposes only. Use these techniques wisely -- and on your own property.
The video, "Open A Lock With 3 Ways," has reached viral status. The nearly four minutes of footage demonstrates how to open a lock using three methods, according to PNP News.
The looping music is pretty darn cool, but personally, I prefer a James Bond tunes or track from the original Mission Impossible (sorry, Tom Cruise).
You'll need a few supplies to open locks using the three methods shown in the video: a paper clip, Philips screwdriver, scissors, masking tape, and a top from a canned goods container.
All in all, the hacks are nifty and can come in handy in a pinch, but there are two requirements the maker of the video left out: finesse and a little bit of luck. Personally, I think a sledgehammer works just fine, but the video would have been a whole lot shorter.
If you're not handy with tools, perhaps it's best to have a spare key on hand. Check out the video below on how to make one in an emergency.
My only question is this: Who uses a padlock these days anyway?
